Indonesia Krisis Tenaga Ahli Epidemiologi Lapangan

profagus-epidemiolog-babanBandung, Ahli epidemiologi memiliki kontribusi dalam bidang kesehatan masyarakat. Namun saat ini Indonesia mengalami krisis tenaga ahli epidemiologi. Butuh ratusan orang ahli epidemiologi lapangan untuk meng-cover jumlah penduduk Indonesia sebanyak 245 juta jiwa.

Plt Dirjen Pengendalian Penyakit dan Penyehatan Lingkungan Kementerian Kesehatan (Kemenkes) Agus Purwadianto menjelaskan ahli epidemiologi berperan penting guna mencegah beragam penyakit, termasuk mendeteksi penyakit menular dan menyelidiki wabah penyakit.

“Idealnya Indonesia butuh 568 orang ahli epidemiologi lapangan dan 9.510 orang asisten ahli epidemiologi. Targetnya setiap provinsi punya dua tenaga ahli epidemiologi lapangan, kabupaten butuh satu orang, dan satu orang asisten ahli epidemiologi di setiap puskesmas,” tutur Agus.

Agus mengungkapkannya usai membuka pertemuan Ilmiah Epidemiologi Nasional ke-4 di Hotel Horison, Jalan Pelajar Pejuang 45, Kota Bandung, Rabu (1/10/2014). Acara tersebut dihadiri sekitar 300 orang antara lain mahasiswa calon epidemilogi serta alumni epidemiologi (FETP).

“Kondisi saat ini baru ada 357 ahli epidemiologi di Indonesia,” ucap Agus.

Agus mengungkapkan hingga kini baru dua universitas yang menyelenggarakan pendidikan bagi FETP yaitu Universitas Indonesia dan Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM). Maka itu, sambung dia, perlu kerjasama dengan universitas untuk mencetak tenaga ahli epidemiologi yang berkompeten.

“Tentu dalam pertemuan ini, kami akan memperluas jejaring ke universitas. Targetnya semua universitas mengajarkan kesehatan masyarakat,” kata Agus.

Dia menuturkan dalam dua darsa warsa terakhir ini Indonesia mengalami dua pandemi yaitu Pandemi SARS pada 2012 dan Pandemi Influenza A (H1N1) pada 2009. Selain merugikan secara ekonomi, juga merugikan nyawa manusia. Agus menerangkan, terkendalinya kedua pandemi tersebut berkat penerapan pendekatan epidemiologi di tingkat global, regional, nasional, dan lokal, utamanya melakukan pencegahan penularan atau pemutusan rantai penularan.

“Kemampuan deteksi dini penyakit menular perlu dipunyai oleh setiap negara agar penyebaran penyakit menular berakibat terjadinya pademi bisa dicegah. Kemampuan deteksi dini ini harus diiringi dengan kemampuan dalam penerapan pendekatan epidemiologi,” tutur Agus.
